Speakers Corner Quartet started as the house band at the infamous hip-hop/spoken-word open-mic night Speakers’ Corner in Brixton, London. Composed of four multi-instrumentalists the quartet is: Biscuit on flute, Kwake Bass on drums, Raven Bush on violin, and Peter Bennie on bass. The unique sound of the Speakers Corner Quartet is almost impossible to pigeon-hole; an amalgam of electronic-classical-jazz-hip-hop. For this reason, the Speakers Corner Quartet call their music 12tone. Their expansive list of past collaborations include Herbie Hancock, Kae Tempest, Mica Levi, Tirzah, Chris Ofili, and many more; a testament to the bonds created by the quartet and their close-knit ties with the brightest contemporary artists. Dedicated to their art and each other, their music is a reflection of the love and trust they share.
